The Tandem Experience

The, John Rose Building, High St, Coalport, Telford TF8 7HT, UK – 01952 458340

Brilliant tandem experience - such fun and great tuition. My husband and I had a glorious day which amazed us both with how much we fun we had embracing tandem riding and how surprisingly good we were at communication and co-operation!! We can highly recommend the experience and the fabulous support and tuition from Peter :-)

What a fantastic experience! My daughter and I decided we wanted to check out Tandems, so logically, I looked for somewhere close by that we could give it a go and found "The Tandem Experience" at Coalport. We arrived in good time and were asked some basic questions to gauge our ability and interest, allocated a Tandem and then onto a session of basic skills, safety and confidence building around the car park. The "Hill Start" was a little tricky and a little hairy, but fine after a couple of practices. Once our instructor was confident, we were fully equipped with tools and puncture repair equipment, map, a good lock and allowed to select a route of our choice and we were on our way. We choose Coalport to Bridgnorth following the old railway track, a great scenic route with little traffic apart from probably the most squirrels I have ever seen in one day! Fueled by coffee and cake at Bridgnorth and lots of admiring looks at the tandem by passers by, we followed the same route back, our confidence and working as a team now meant we cranked up the pace, dodged the squirrel population and the odd pot hole and safely returned. We were greeted back and asked about our journey and if we had any questions or needed any advice along with offers of any help in the future. I highly recommend anyone, to give this experience a go, you will be well taken care of young and old. My daughter is 14 and I am 56, she loved every minute of it and we laughed all along the way.

WalkingWorld.jpg
Another good one. Walkingworld has huge library of guides with a good selection of walks, of varying lengths and grades, pretty well anywhere in the UK. The walks come in an excellent format making them very easy to follow, with photographs to illustrate every important decision point and a proper Ordnance Survey map.

A modist annual subscription gives you unlimited access to all the walks. However you can Pay As Go by downloading indiviual walks.

Crucially you can also find walks France, Spain, Norway, Portugal and Australia!

Irongorge Camping

Coach House Strethill Road, Coalbrookdale TF8 7EY, UK – 01952 433047

Lovely location, good facilities and not a bad view to wake up to. 15 or 20 minute walk to a good selection of pubs. Stayed in a large pod, was comfortable even with 4 adults. Highly recommended.

Found a little gem here. Been camping for years and so glad we came across this place. Welcomed very warmly by James the owner. Such a friendly chap. We stayed in a pod which was fantastic and spacious for the two of us plus doggie. Fire pits are all in and wood, (honesty box provided for helping yourselves to it) What beautiful views watching the sun set. Clean toilet block and great showers. We don't want to go home 😔 but will be returning with our tent. 😊
